Social media cannot agree where this came from – there was a
debate some time back – I forget on
which group. I think, but I may be wrong, that it was
originally writing by a member of Kilimani Mums, or one of its myriad breakaway
groups, who after a facebook soliloquy of her life and times, signed off with
“cha muhimu ni uhai”. Of importance is
life.
I agree. Because life
as we and google know it - the condition that distinguishes animals and plants
from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction,
functional activity, and continual change preceding death - is the only thing
that makes me, me. Plus its the only
thing that’s brought me here, and its end – death – is what takes me out of
here. So for my stay here on earth, of
importance is life.
But what is life?
Where did it start? What starts
life? What is its purpose? Where does life go? What is the meaning of life?
Recently in a class I am attending, the lecturer told us, we
can only see things in perspective after the event. Then you clearly understand the purpose and
meaning of what happened and can assign clear cause and responsibility to what
is in retrospect clearly apparent. Meaning
– that the question – what is life, will be answered after life? Somehow, I cannot wait, and yet I will.
This, by the way, is not the only major question I
have. I have a list of questions,
including Stonehenge and its like, crop circles, near death experiences, Mayan
and Egyptian pyramids, the Bermuda triangle, skeletons of giants, extra
terrestrials, new world orders, why was Mary Magdalene framed, predestination
versus free will, why the devil, etcetera etcetera.
So meanwhile I wonder on life – in all its glory and myriad miseries. The later part – misery, brings me to a
single documented life that suffered misery – Job. I’ve recently heard or read somewhere [cannot
remember where], that the book of Job is not supposed to be in the bible –
google-it if you wish. Because it
doesn’t fit into the bible narrative.
They do not know who Job was, why he appears and how he ties into the
God’s story, His-story for man. I do not
know “who” they are, but they said it.
If they said it, it was true to them.
But anyhows, there is Job.
With one disaster after another landing on him. Because why?
Because God. God actually tells
satan, go after that guy. He basically
says – I have a guy I need to you to sort out for me. And boy does satan work it. He touches everything, destroys everything,
kills everything, apart from take Job’s life and that of his wife. I always wondered why the wife wasn’t
touched. Was it because wife rhymes with
life? Only God and satan know.
I digress – I want to talk about the life of Job. I think I’ve talked about Job before, it
seems I like Job. I wouldn’t wish
anything that Job went through on my worst enemy. And I haven’t met a declared enemy of mine,
covertly enemy-like I have met, but not declared. My truth to tell – I’d snatch the rewards sans
the pain, any day, from my worst declared enemy. The reward - a life with God, for God, with
God. A life that’s the result of saying
and doing - that no matter what I am with God.
I am in God. And God is in me. What a life!!
That ‘s what life is.
Of importance is life – with God.
Can I hear an Amen?
And all God’s people said – Amen.
