Last week during an intercessors prayer meeting for Africa, a
topic discussed was slavery and the
ravages it did on the African person and
the continent. This led me to thinking about
colonisation too.
Slavery came to Africa in the 15th century. Africa’s wholesale colonisation was in-between
the 1870s and 1900. The wave of liberation and self rule was
majorly in the 1960’s. Those are many
years of toil and trouble.
The gaining of independence, was the removal of imperialist power
over us. I Googled the word imperialism. It says that it is “a policy of extending a country's
power and influence through colonization, use of military force, or other means.”
Of interest to me is “or other means”. Which translates to me to mean “or any other
power/s”. Power operates in two
realms. The physical, and the
spiritual. Ephesians 6:12 [KJV] says
that, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places.
While we gained physical power so to speak, we are still
under spiritual domination. While we
fought for physical independence, we never fought for spiritual independence
from the evil seeds sowed alongside colonisation. We are still under that spiritual bondage. Yoked to the principalities set up by the
colonisers that in some cases coupled with the already established spirits. They have influence over our nations. We remain oppressed.
It is time for a new war. A war of spiritual independence for our nations. It will not be led by our church and political leaders. It will be led by persons who have been called to stand in the breach, to stand in the gap for their nations. Persons who are burdened to travail for their country spiritually. Persons of faith, who will personally appropriate and commandeer the war on behalf of their fellow citizens. Persons like you. Because, God sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Him for the land, that He should not destroy it: and He found you [Ezekiel 22:30 [KJV]]. A person like you.
